This is the southernmost of three shipwrecks that lie on the west side of the Afon Leri within the Ynyslas section of the Dyfi National Nature Reserve. The three vessels were deliberately abandoned on the riverbank to mark the edge of the river channel.
The ship is built from wood and dates to the 19th century. It probably served as part of the Derwenlas slate-carrying fleet, as well as moving general cargo or working as a ferry, around the Dyfi estuary.
The three vessels are protected as Scheduled Monuments. The ship is also listed in the National Monuments Record of Wales (NPRN506769) https://coflein.gov.uk/en/site/506769/
The visible remains of the ship were recorded on the 12th September 2022 in conjunction with a monitoring visit by Cadw. Previous surveys include those in 2015 (https://skfb.ly/HAQW) and 2017 (https://skfb.ly/6qANo).
