"Colonna Pizzuta" from Heloros (Noto, Sicily)3D Model
Located in the outskirts of the Greek citiy, the Colonna Pizzuta, one of the most iconic monuments of Heloros, is a colossal funerary monument signaling the presence of a nowadays backfilled funerary chamber dated to the 3rd century BCE, certainly belonged to one of the wealthiest family of the city. 10.50m high and with a diameter 3,79m, the Colonna Pizzuta is set on a stepped podium placed on a plain platform, likely encompassed by a stone fence enriched with decorative models, from which the chamber underneath was accesed via a staircase.
This digital asset has been produced as part of the collaborative research project aimed at re-discovering of ancient Heloros via the application of remote sensing, geophysical prospecting and digital storyrelling (P.I.s Davide Tanasi and Rosa Lanteri).
3D model produced in aerial ldigital photogrammetry emplyiong a DJI Phantom Pro 4 v2 drone and capturing 202 photographs with a resolution of 4864x3648 pixels processed with Agisoft Metashape v.1.8.0 (build 13257).
