Portland limestone mounted on sandstone, Father Time with putto, British, c.1688-1724. An allegorical depiction of time, represented as an elderly man with wings with an attendant putto. Mounted on two octagonal sandstone steps. Father Time sits on a globe looking outwards, his searching expression conveys time’s irretrievable escape. Located just north of Belton House & its Dutch Garden, High Rd, Belton, Grantham NG32 2LW. Attibuted to the Danish sculptor Caius Gabriel Cibber famed for his frieze on the Memorial to the Great Fire of London.
