This is a project I did for the Gods in Color Exhibit at the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco. For the exhibit, I was asked to projection map a painting done by Rebecca Levitan as part of a project at Emory University, that was a historical representation of the colors originally adorning the marble.
My job was to get the painting to project properly on a plaster replica of the marble that was on loan to the museum. My first task was to create a photogrammetry model. I got special access to the piece in a photo studio in the basement of the museum–a much better place to photograph than the usual museum gallery situation.
After computing the model in Reality Capture it was colored in ZBrush and Photoshop. Final projection at the museum was with MadMapper. This model is a vertex-colored OBJ.
