This terracotta pipe fragment has a build up of minerals on its interior that were present in the water that it carried.

According to the label for this artifact: “The gray core of the terracotta fabric results from incomplete firing during the manufacturing process.” Repository number AWG0000.01.15. It is on exhibit at the Ancient World Gallery at the University of Richmond.
