71. Colorful Mosaic Jar with Handles3D Model
Description: Squat glass pot has a wide neck, flared mouth and simple rim. The base is shallowly concave with a palpable pontil mark. The two handles are “S” shaped and attached to both the body of the vessel and to the shoulder. The exterior surface is rough following the contours of the designs in the canes; the interior surface is smoother and cloudy. The vessel is lined with translucent glass. The orange color in the canes are vibrant and unusual for antiquity. Possibly a modern reproduction (?). Thought by the donor to be a Phoenician vessel from Tyre.
