Ceremonial Axe (NHMW-Prae 25.626)3D Model
3D scan of a ceremonial axe from the Hallstatt cemetery (c. 600 BC). Small, ornamental axes with horse representations, like this one with an equestrian figurine, are interpreted as ceremonial devices or as symbols of status and power. So far, five of these objects are known, all of them from Hallstatt.
The ceremonial axe from the Hallstatt cemetery can be found in Hall 13 of the NHM Vienna.
