Area Z, Khirbat Nuqayb al-Asaymir3D Model
Area Z is one of the largest buildings at Khirbat Nuqayb al-Asaymir in Faynan. Of the five excavation areas at the site, Area Z was the only one with evidence of multiple strata, or levels, both dating to the early 13th century AD. In its earlier phase, the building was a dining hall or other public building, perhaps the site’s main gathering area. In the later phase, the building was enclosed by extending its walls, and bins were built along the interior walls to convert it for use as a metallurgical workshop.
