100.KZ.11 Aphrodite Kallipygos Statuette3D Model
This is a 3D model of a Neoclassical statuette, which copies an ancient marble statue in the National Archaeological Museum (Naples). It displays a woman (the goddess Aphrodite? a mortal?) partially draped in her robes. This pose and subject is a statue type called the “Aphrodite Kallipygian” (Callipygian Venus). This modern name came from the Greek words kallos (beauty) + pyge (buttocks). The original Roman work dates from the 1st c. BCE. It was recovered in the 16th c. missing its head.
