Ammonite block (NHMW-Geo 2014/0457/0001)3D Model
3D scan of a block full of different fossils. The block is dominated by various species of ammonites. The 89 kilograms heavy and 70×50×20 centimeter big block is full of fossils from the lower Albium (ca. 110 million years, Lower Cretaceous). It was found in Ambatolafia in the Mahajanga province of Madagascar and purchased by the “Friends of the NHMW” for a scientific isotope study.
This specific block is not visible in the exhibition, but there is a second block displayed in Hall 8 of the NHM Vienna.
