More model informationOk this is my first “turntable” scan and it was made for the Monthly 3D Scanning Challenge: Horn of Plenty on Sketchfab. Unfortunately, a red Paprika was a bad choice, allmost no texture, extreme specular lightning ;p I had to use PBR in Sketchfab for a more realistic look. The biggest challenge was to create a complete Model.

Amazing model. Good work
Thanks again !
good paprika!
@atalitalia very nice! :D
Hello :) used here: skfb.ly/6ytzw for retopology purposes.
@nedo
181 images Quick Masking tool in Photoshop is about 30 min of work.
RC need focus on more important tasks :D
BTW, great result! And great tip about marks!
@lubenko hi, for the paprika i used for the first time a Photography Shooting Tent Kit with two lightbulbs and a turntable.
First i painted markers (small dots) onto the paprika, around the whole vegetable. (paprika was never intended for eating, so no problem ;)
Then i shoot 181 Pics with my Nikon D3300. I hade to create masks for each photo, without masks the result was not ok.
I use RealityCapture for the modelling, after that i usualy try to soften/close holes if the modell is to rough, for that i try different software
(ie. Meshlab, RealityCapture and others) and see what looks best, then i decimate the modell to 25k polys.
For Texturing i usualy use 8192x8192. When the Texture is done i removed the painted dots in photoshop.
For the Paprika i added/created two additional textures, bumpmap & specular based on the original texture, watching and comparing
the real paprika with the model.
Thats all ;) The reconstruction in RC was very fast (it is allways fast) i think it took aprox 30min. max. But most time took masking the images,
RC need an automask tool ;)
More infos about you can read below.
@nedo thank you, could you also provide me with these details on this model: how many photos/laser scans and what kind of equipment did you use? what software did you use? how long did it take to reconstruct the model with it? did you do any post-processing to the model? if so, what kind?
@lubenko yes you can, btw. i first thought i'm in that group too, but i'm not! ;)
hello, can I share the model here? facebook.com/groups/CapturingRealityAren...
I've removed this model from 'Products & Technology' - that category is more for 'tech' content.
@vibrantnebula
Hi vibrantnebula! I got my turntable with photostudio lightning box finaly, i had to experiment first with the lightning setup to get low specular
ligthning as much on the paprika (change render to shadless to see how it actualy ended up) the next problem was the texture, almost none visible.
So i painted markers direct on the paprika (removed them later on the rendered texture) and i had to mask every photo to get a good alignment
for a full model...didnt expected that much work ;p
Was a good training, tho!

This turned out pretty good for something so specular. I am trying to model a habanero and am having the exact same issues.
Muy bueno gracias
