Section 17/20: The South Slope of the Western High Gate of Medinet Habu.
This area, along with the North Slope in Section 18, has never been excavated, and gives an idea of the enormous amount of sand and debris that had to be removed when the Western High Gate was first excavated in the 1930s. The standing mud-brick walls on top of the slope belong to Coptic houses, but the long mud-brick wall bordering the west end is a modern construction.
