More model informationAlso known as the “trei căldări” (three buckets) national monument and nature reserve. Solitary boulder on top of a mountain, which looked at from a certain angle, vaguely resembles a human skull.
The origin of the three ~60cm cavities are still debated by geologists. Some argue they are of either karstic or periglacial origin. However, most agree that they formed through aeolian processes (wind erosion).
Sadly, this protected site is also frequently visited by irresponsible tourists and locals, who continue to leave permanent markings all over the stone. As a result, its state degraded signifcantly throughout the years, hence my conservation efforts to capture in its current condition for future reference.
