Figure formerly placed above gateway of laundry belonging to the Convent at St Peter’s Port Abraded sandstone squatting figure. . Originally from St. Peter’s Abbey (WM029-042003-/ WM029-042091) The figure is roughly carved on a corbel. The head is oval and elongated. The nose is rectangular in shape and long, The mouth is pursed, with large lips and a rounded chin. The eyes are oval The body is covered by the arms and legs, and the figure is set in a foetal position with the knees raised up to the chin and hands resting on the knees. The hands are shown with fingers, the legs are slim and feet appear to have been broken off. The vulva is represented as a long slit. It is prominently shown at the bottom of the figure. As the figure is housed in a museum case, and supported by a stand this area of the figure is difficult to see. The stone shows signs of wear, and rubbing on the head over time.
