Prism map of the 2017 VA gubernatorial election with blue and red color shading to indicate the margin of outcome (see key) and height to show the relative population in each voting district. Population ranges from Highland County (2,300) to Fairfax County (1,137,290). This map is not intended to be a comment on the outcome of the election; rather, is a map that I was interested in seeing. The map was built in Cinema 4D from extruded splines exported from ArcMap and height and color changes added in Unity3D at runtime and exported directly to sketchfab using the new (to me) exporter (which works fantastically!). Election results from: http://results.elections.virginia.gov/vaelections/2017%20November%20General/Json/Governor.json Population data from: http://demographics.coopercenter.org/virginia-population-estimates/
An alternative version of the map that shows relative voter turnout is at: https://skfb.ly/6usRW and a 2D animated version is at: https://youtu.be/vxkOC4YvILM
