Chimu Monkey Bottle3D Model
This is a Chimu blackware that dates to ca. 1000-1532. It depicts a monkey. The potter made this with a 2-piece mold and then fired it in a reduced atmosphere, resulting in its black surface. The Chimu culture started producing this type of monkey bottle during a time period archaeologists called “Late Intermediate” (AD 1000-1460). After being conquered by the Incas, the Chimu people continued to make monkey bottles in the subsequent “Late Horizon” (AD 1460-1532).
