Fredericksburg Slave Auction Block3D ModelNoAI
This stone is located on the corner of William Street and Charles Street in Fredericksburg, Virginia. There exists some question about whether this stone block was actually used to auction slaves or was simply a carriage stop. Noted National Park Service historian John Hennessy has examined this question in a series of blogs. He notes that this street corner was definitely the location of sales of enslaved individuals and, combined, with a strong oral tradition suggests that this was indeed a slave block. The Fredericksburg Slave Block was 3D scanned with a Structure Scannter attached to an iPad Mini 4 on September 24, 2017. This was one day after a public forum was held to discuss whether the Slave Block should be moved or kept at this location.
