More model informationThis Sheela-na-Gig is carved into keystone above the door of Ballinderry Tower House in E. Gawlay. It is protected by a Murderhole. The Sheela’s braided hair extends across the top of the Keystone in two distant styles. She has two lightly carved eyes, a nose (with nostrils), mouth and ears. Her hands are resting below her bellybutton, revealing her vulva. It is unclear if the Sheela is urinating, or if she has a object beneath her vulva. Her breasts are pushed to the extreme sides of her chests and are rendered with long drooping nipples. Her feet have been damaged at the ankles, but the right one can still be identified. The Sheela is rendered with a trinity knot, marigold, a bird and a rosette surround the carving.
