Govan 17 (Stirling Maxwell’s numbering; ECMS 35) is one of 31 early medieval recumbent cross-slabs originally recorded at Govan Old in 1899. This is currently displayed upright and against the wall, but these monuments would have originally laid flat in the churchyard, likely marking the grave of a significant early medieval individual. The design of the monument is quite similar to that of Govan 19.
