Sample holder containing 10 bird bones (each up to 25 mm long) from the Land Vertebrates collection at The Auckland War Memorial Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira. Specimens were borrowed from the Land Vertebrates collection with permission from Matt Rayner and Ruby Moore (Auckland Museum). Imaging performed by Dane Gerneke using a Bruker Skyscan 1172 at the MicroCT suite in the Auckland Bioengineering Institute at the University of Auckland.
Each bone is placed in a size 000 gelatin capsule alongside a specimen label and acid-free archival tissue (label and tissue not shown). Capsules attached to a plastic straw.
