More model informationThe scene shows the distribution of iron and silicon in the remant of a neutrino-driven supernova explosion. The isosurfaces show the distributions of shocked iron (red), silicon (green), unshocked iron (magenta), and unshocked silicon (yellow) at the age of 359 years (nearly the age of the SNR Casssiopeia A) derived from an hydrodynamic model (run W15-2-cw-IIb-HD+dec). The isosurfaces correspond to a value of Fe and Si density which is at 25% of the respective peak density. The semi-transparent lightblue surface indicates the reverse shock. The Earth vantage point lies on the negative y-axis.
MHD simulation performed with the PLUTO code.
