UPDATE: Someone suggested I look further into the challenge of donating to large behemoth NGOs. I did some learning and research — namely, the money doesn’t always get down to the ppl who need it most. I’ll be shifting the 50% from Color of Change to the East Oakland Collective, directly serving Black, low-income residents in my hometown. EOC is founded and led by Candice Elder, an incredible woman I grew up with. The other 50% will still go towards Black Girls Code.
