More model informationThis model of 101955 Bennu was created using imagery retrieved by the OSIRIS-REx asteroid mission.
Geometry based on the image sequence captured by the spacecraft orbiting 50 mi (80 km) from Bennu’s surface (25.11.18). Texture reverse projected from the equirectangular high-resolution mosaic described in this Science Direct article (19.04.19).
Animated states:
- orbital flight - emulates the asteroid’s rotation
- basemap projection - shows how the sphere > asteroid texture projection works
To disable shadows and navigate surface features more easily, go to Static Pose and press 2 (Albedo) or 3 (mesh). Cycle annotations by pressing k or j.
