He was a manufacturer of matches during the 19th century and he was also the patron of arts of his son-in-law, the painter Fernando Cabrera, and the architect Vicente Pascual. Among the works you can find of these artists are “La Casa del Pavo” and this monument. In the year 2014, it was chosen “the best funerary monument of Spain” by a specialized magazine.
