Geology of Carter Lake Reservoir area

3D Model

The 3D model was performed for Carter Lake Reservoir Quadrangle (Colorado), based on archival geological map and cross-sections (Braddock et al., 1988). The QGIS 3.8 with plugin QGIS2threejs supported by Three.js Editor was used here. This model shows laramian folds in the Front Range, Colorado Rocky Mountains, USA. Note the occurrence of symmetric and asymmetric folds controlled by faulting of Proterozoic basement. The topography of such folded terrain is composed of many steep and sharp strike ridges and hogback ridges.
