The University of South Florida Library’s Digital Heritage and Humanities Collections (DHHC) along with the National Park Service’s Southeast Archeological Center (SEAC), conducted a terrestrial laser scanning and imaging project at Fort Matanzas, St. Augustine, Florida. Fort Matanzas guarded St. Augustine’s southern river approach, and is today part of the National Park Service system, co-managed with the Castillo de San Marcos located 15 miles to the north. The fort became a National Monument in 1924. The site includes the masonry fortifications from 1740 along with approximately 100 acres along the Matanzas River.
