This is a 3D model of an ancient marble statue of Hercules and Omphale in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Naples. He holds yarn while she wears his Nemean Lion skin and club. As payment for a murder , Hercules was commanded to sell himself in slavery. He was purchased by Princess Omphale and forced to act as her maid. It was humiliating for the masculne Hercules to be in a submissive role to a woman. Here, the symbols of his manhood, the lion skin and his club, are held by Omphale while he wears women’s clothes and yarn, a symbol of women’s work.
