Distribution of titanium (44Ti; blue), and proxies for carbon monoxide (CxO; red) and silicon monoxide (SixO; green) in the remnant of supernova (SN) 1987A at day 9875 after the outburst. The distributions are given for three different models: a) N16.3 (on the left) a SN from a progenitor blue supergiant evolved from a single star; b) B18.3 (at the center), a SN from a blue supergiant resulting from the merging of two massive stars; c) S19.8 (on the right) a SN from a red supergiant. The semi-transparent torus-like structure (white) corresponds to the dense equatorial ring around SN 1987A interacting with the blast wave. The semi-transparent isosurfaces correspond to a value of the 44Ti (blue) density which is at 10% of the peak density and to a value of CxO (red) and SixO (green) density which is at 50% of the peak density for each model. The yardstick indicating the length scale is on the left.
