More model informationThe Church of Sant’Edoardo, in Sestriere, was commissioned by Giovanni Agnelli, the founder of Fiat, in memory of his son Edward, who died in a tragic plane crash in 1935. Designed by Vittorio Bonadè-Bottino in pseudo-Romanesque style and built in goriss dioritico, has a massive bronze portal by Arturo Dazzi; inside there is a Crucifix and an Addolorata carved in marble by Edoardo Rubino, a statue of Saint Edward in red porphyry and a Via Crucis in gilded bronze by Francesco Messina, and a statue of the Virgin of Hospitality by Tonino Scuccimarra.
