More model informationThe late sixth-early seventh-century shrine of Lem Aat, the Hummingbird God of Naranjo, was discovered underneath later additions fo the Central Acropolis, the main palace compound at this ancient Maya site. The temple was part of an earlier version of the palace during the reign of Ajnumsaaj Chan K’inich (“Aj Wosal”), the most famous king of Naranjo. The friezes above the temple’s doorway and on the opposite side of the structure depit a mythical flower mountain, the abode of the patron deity. The latter is depicted twice on either facade as a hummingbird with a human head. His name (LEM?-AAT) is spelled in the headdress of the figures.
