More model informationName : Valve of a centric Diatom (fossile)
Description : Diatom are microalgae from freshwater or seawater. Their transparent cellwall (frustule) is mineral. This kind of greenhouse is made of biogenic silica (amorphous opaline). The frustule is often composed of 2 valves (as a box and its lid), which are sometimes separated by intermediate segments. Only one valve is visible here.
Size : 100 µm.
Sampling : marine sediment
Method : 3D- reconstruction from Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy

@ARC-3D Thank you for your comment. The size of this frustule is about 100µm. 3D reconstructions are achieved from Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy Z-stack
These are beautiful. Can you say something about sizes? Are they done with a nano-CT?
How were you able to image this?
