An untextured high quality version of the Wemyss Caves boat rock art. Full textured model is here. View in metcap for even clearer surface examination.
This model is intended to help identify what of the rock art is actually picked or carved, and what is natural rock face. Stripping the texture away and variously lighting it shows the outline of the boat much clearer. This was another experiment in unlit, unscaled, rapid photogrammetry carried out with a phone camera in difficult environments. Even when relying on a phone flash, detail is visible. Similar, scaled, repeat surveys could identify damage or erosion threats over time.
See Wmyss4D for a brilliant RTI model of the boat, and cave’s history.
The DEM below illustrates the problem of displaying depth on an uneven surface, like the cave rock. The boat is still clear though. Ignore the arbitrary scale.
